Sandi, i love cats, especially this one. You are such a fine artist. (by the way, congrats on your sale of another of your great works of art). To be able to paint this way with watercolors is quite remarkable. I'm in awe of your talents. LF

Artist's Description

My step-daughter and her husband were moving into their first house in Eureka, CA. on the day I took the photograph for this painting. This cat was a nomad that made himself at home throughout the neighborhood of old, turn-of-the-century Craftsman Style homes and this day was no exception. He didn't waste any time getting to know these new neighbors by curling up on their blue velvet chair that was temporarily sitting on the front porch, next to an old table. I was captivated by his audacity, the stark contrast of his white fur against the dark wood furniture, and those expressive blue eyes that reflected the cushion he had claimed. Additionally, all the wonderful textures that were naturally present in the photo I took that day excited my need for a challenge. This was one of my first paintings to win awards, and ultimately give me the confidence to try difficult subjects. I have had many people tell me that they've had a cat that looked just like that one!

I wanted to share it in such a way that people would want to "take the closer look" and further appreciate the world and creation around us. In the first two years, I produced 20 paintings and framed them all with the encouragement of my husband (who doubles as my easily available art critic). As I painted more and more, I became more adept at putting together the elements that create...
