Sierra County California is a land of many lakes and streams, and amongst them is Frazier Creek. I have a hiked many times over a bridge that crosses Frazier Creek. It was from that bridge that I took the photo for this painting. In the summer months, the creek is very slow, with the sky reflected in the water in deep blues and purples and it is deceptively calm. It is not until farther down the trail that a person realizes that where the creek seemingly disappears from view in this scene is where it plummets 250 feet over a rocky ledge!
The original of this painting has been beautifully framed in an antiqued bronze-toned 16x20 wood frame with a fillet and white and green mats, all included for the purchase price of $350.
After 32 years of teaching elementary school, I decided to retire. Just prior to my retirement, I took a few watercolor classes at Shasta College to see if all the "desire" to paint that had been waiting patiently for its turn in my busy life could materialize into something that would represent my best efforts to replicate the beauty I see in the world. I wanted to share it in such a way that people would want to "take the closer look" and further appreciate the world and creation around us. In the first two years, I produced 20 paintings and framed them all with the encouragement of my husband (who doubles as my easily available art critic).
